Package Description:

Pactor II Data & WaveMail HF e-mail software have been brought together to work with the Q-MAC HF-90.  There are two configurations; Portable DataPack, and Base Station DataPack.

WaveMail is e-mail software which is optimised for efficient messaging over radio modems, and can also be interfaced to Inmarsat phones & ordinary telephone modems.  WaveMail lets you create, send/receive and manage messages & attachments.  Messages can be sent to and received from other WaveMail stations or to/from the Internet (if the WaveNet Internet Gateway has been installed in your WaveMail network).  The flexible structure of WaveMail allows the integration of Gateways to other e-mail systems.

With WaveMail, messages are kept small, with minimal overhead, whilst being sent over the HF link, and only when (or if) the message has to go outside the HF network into the Internet is it converted to PPP, the Internet ‘language’.

The system can also be used in “chat” mode, similar to internet chat rooms, where each user in turn can type direct on the computer, and the words appear at the destination computer.

Portable Data Package;

The Portable Data package was produced as a complete data solution that can be plugged into any existing Q-MAC HF-90 Portable package.  All HF-90’s since serial number 3500 have been data-capable. For users wanting to retrofit data to existing products the Portable Data Package is available without a transceiver kit.
